Envision a forest growing in Sweeny, not the green trees that make the town so beautiful, but a forest of family trees. The trees are rooted deep in the town's past and their branches reach skyward and begin to intertwine. Couples fall in love, marry and their family trees are joined up in the branches so some names appear on multiple tree. Like any small town, everybody is related. Here are family trees of some historic 1800 settlers, early 1900 "first in Sweeny" families and some other familiar family names around town.
